The Plastic Fantastic of East London
My timeline has recently transformed into a relentless, algorithmic fever dream, entirely populated by digital Hammers couture and architectural geometry that nobody asked for. There is a bizarre, deeply exhausting trend currently plaguing the West Ham social media community: flooding the digital ether with AI-generated "concept kits" and imaginary upgrades to the London Stadium. Frankly, it is getting a bit boring.
I open my phone only to feel as though I’ve been forcibly conscripted into a guided tour of a "Ken plays football" wardrobe, complete with a neon-lit Dream House. Everything is too smooth, too perfect, and utterly devoid of soul. We are being treated to pixelated stadium expansions featuring floating roofs and hyper-futuristic concourses that look less like Stratford and more like a dystopian airport terminal. It is a tragedy of clutter, really. Classic internet move.
Still, I suppose one must hunt for the silver lining. As tedious as it is to dodge these pristine, computer-generated monstrosities, it is arguably a magnificent step up from the alternative. At least my eyes aren't bleeding from the usual summer transfer window ramblings of a twelve-year-old "In The Know" account, typing furiously from his mother’s basement, swearing blindly that he just spotted Lionel Messi in the Romford club shop trying on the new away top. Absurdly.
